When one considers the range of academic, cognitive, behavioural, and socioeconomic diversity in today’s schools and classrooms, the challenge for educators to reach all students can appear immense and overwhelming. While some government laws, educational policies, and professional development initiatives have created many useful algorithms to follow, they cannot possibly be expected to solve the exhaustive number of problems that arise in our schools every day. More than ever, heuristic, innovative, hardworking, and talented teachers are needed to creatively and collectively find solutions to complex problems and issues that arise. This workshop examines the necessity for teachers to think both independently and collaboratively, and highlights effective “think tank” models and strategies for schools.
